  1. Great discussion, lads! I especially enjoyed Elyse’s comments about the business of tea (which is a topic that gets little air time on tea blogs.)

      • Hi James & Denny!

Thank you for sharing your afternoon with us, always great to drink good tea with good company!

You are doing awesome things for tea knowledge and discussions, keep it up!! Let’s keep working hard to expand tea. 😀

        Rie

        • Hi Rie,

Thanks for coming on the show (and the kind words)! Hope you and the Tealet crew can keep doing great things to bring a great cuppa tea to the rest of us.

          Cheers!

  2. So how did the tea taste? Interested in hearing more about the tea.

The Tealet ladies referred to the American Tea Plantation in South Carolina, which is owned by Bigelow now, I think? I have a tin of their first flush limited from this year. I also have the Island Green which has mixed reviews. But I haven’t opened the tins yet. So much tea and too little time, gah all these puerh teas that steep for DAYS, how is a girl gonna get around to trying everything, oy me.

Enjoyed the presentation overall! Again one of the many tea vids here on Teadb where I get so much unique tea entertainment and knowledge to be found nowhere else,

    • Hi Cwyn,

Thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed the episode. The tea was excellent! Easily one of if not the best white tea I’ve had. Lots of unusual, offbeat teas coming from Tealet.

      Cheers!

    • How did it taste?
I was fortunate to pick up a sample of this tea awhile back. To my palate the flavour was much more intense and robust than a ‘typical’ white tea. I noted some strong honey and floral (orchid?) notes. The flavour was very strong and pleasant in its attack. I did find the aftertaste and mouth feel to be less compelling however. In my sample the leaves were broken, I think they are very fragile, so that was a bit disappointing. To me it seemed to be somewhat oxidized, and in this regard reminiscent of a lightly oxidized Oriental Beauty or Darjeeling (my sample was not super fresh, not sure if that had anything to do with the flavour profile). On the whole a very interesting and satisfying tea. I definitely recommend trying this tea…it tastes different than China Whites and presumably this is, in part, the taste of Hawaii.
I am a big fan of what Tealet is trying to accomplish. I wish you guys all the best.

      • Hi John,

Thanks for the comment! I too am a big fan of what Tealet is trying to do.

I thought the taste was excellent. This was my only time tasting the tea, so it’s hard for me to give exact notes especially considering the brewing was different from the norm.

Denny originally mistook the tea (on site) for Oriental Beauty as well, so it is interesting you make that comparison!

        Cheers!
