CNNP 1997 7581 Yunnan Sourcing Ripe Pu’erh [Episode 66]

Curated by Yunnan Sourcing, this is a great example of aged ripe pu’erh. CNNP’s 7581 is a notoriously inconsistent recipe, but this particular tea is an example of a well-aged, dry-stored ripe pu’erh. Complex profile, a very nice tea.

  1. Is smokiness usual in ripe puer? I detest (abhor) smokiness, though I am beginning to enjoy ripes. Should I be worried about smokiness in most ripes.Thanks.

    • Hi Peter,

Smokiness is far more typical for raw than ripe pu’erh. I wouldn’t worry about it for most ripe teas. The smokiness in this tea is pretty atypical. It is also not extremely dominant or overpowering as it can be in some young raw teas.

      Hope this clarifies and cheers!
