2017 YS Crimson Rooster Ripe Pu’erh [Inbetweenisode 191]

This episode, I finish off another ripe cake, the Yunnan Sourcing Crimson Rooster. This is a light-mid fermented ripe pu’erh fermented by the same guy who did the Green Miracle. A good, textured, well-above average ripe.

Rating: 6.6.

  1. Hi James,

I have some of this in storage and have yet to try it out in the cup so its always good when someone breaks the wrapper first and dives straight in.

I still have some Green Miracle left too, although severely depleted as its so so good, so I’m tempted to open the Rooster. Green Miracle was one of those timeless ripe teas that you just kick yourself over not stocking up on more.

That said given your comments on comparing the two, this would be an interesting thing to try out and I would look forward to seeing the outcomes of, especially as you can really tune into the uniqueness of the production with them both having the same fermenter.

  2. I’ve always felt that Rooster King got too much hype and that Crimson Rooster was a better tea. Just more going on with it though not quite as approachable to a new tea drinker which probably explains why it got all the attention. At this point I’m just happy when people notice Crimson Rooster!
