2015 W2T Pretty Girls Ripe Pu’erh [Episode 231]

White2Tea’s premium ripe pu’erh brought onto TeaDB. A relatively strong ripe blend, for those that like their shu on the greener side.

  1. $39 for a 200g is a bit pricey for ripe though. You can get some pretty good full bings for that sort of money.

    • Hi Nick & Steve,

Yes, you’re both right. Per gram it’s definitely on the higher-end of ripe. I’m not sure that I’d buy it, but it’s worth a sample at least if you’re ordering from W2T anyways.

  2. Yeah, that translates into $69 for a 357 beeng, and it’s a young ripe as well. Thing is, those 200 cakes are quite a bit smaller than 357 ones. A bit more than 3/4 smaller, since 357/200 = 1.785.

Tbh, that’s the main I’ve avoided W2T so far, I just don’t have the budget for it. At least the pricing is consistent though, I’ll give them that.

  3. The question of price versus quantity is not straightforward. In my mind, the price/quantity is not as important as whether it delivers something special or unique. I have plenty of “daily drinkers” to last me most if not all of my life. What I want to know is whether a tea has something extra besides catchy marketing or hipster cred.. As you have noted time to time price and quality do not always align.

    • Hi Karl,

Agreed. The value of a tea to a drinker depends a lot on what the drinker is looking for. Not everything and perhaps not most things come down to straight price vs. quantity.

      Cheers,
      -James
